seeing differently.
a quiet space to reflect on what I’m beginning to see differently.
I’m starting to see things differently…
we are not just surfaces.
not just faces or bodies but stories, memories,
inner worlds that can’t be seen at first glance.
beauty was never meant to define us.
and maybe it was never fair to begin with
to measure people by something so fleeting,
so shaped by time, culture, and expectation.
I’m learning how comparison slowly takes something away
how it turns softness into judgment, and presence into doubt.
and how easy it is to forget
that what we’re comparing was never meant to be equal.
I’m beginning to question the standards
I once believed in without noticing
the ones that shift, yet still make us feel like we’re falling behind.
and the roles we were placed into,
quietly, subtly,
based on how we look
instead of who we are.
but time…
time doesn’t take anything essential away. it reveals more.
it deepens what was already there.
and maybe the problem was never us,
but the systems that taught us
we were not enough
just as we are.
I’m learning that love was never about what we see.
it lives in what we choose
in how we show up,
in how we care,
in how we imagine each other beyond the surface.
because we are not things to be looked at,
measured, or compared.
we are lives.
we are depth.
we are becoming.
and maybe a different kind of world begins
when we start seeing each other that way.
Maybe seeing differently is where everything begins to change.
weekly reflections.
in progress.
